    English (More detail can be found on English overview)

    In English this term we will be focusing our written work around our class book of 'Macbeth' -focusing on instructions, letter writing, persuasive writing and narrative writing. We will then use this book to inspire us to write 'I am' poems focusing on the different characters from the story.

    Whole Class Reading

    Our Author for the Spring Term is Andy William who wrote the children's version of 'Macbeth'. The children will study this book in class and answer a range of questions about it in pairs as well as independently. We will also read 'Romeo and Juliet' and 'A Midsummer Night's dream'.

    Maths (More detail can be found on Maths overview)

    In maths the children will be learning all about decimals, shape, position and direction, negative numbers, converting units and measures.

    Science

    In science we will be looking at different life cycles and animals and observing and describing differences, comparing animals and plants as well as reproduction in animals and plants. We will then finish the year working with Accrington Stanley on our 'Move and Learn' programme focusing on exercise, well being and healthy eating.

    Geography

    In Geography, we will be learning all about Brazil and comparing it to life here in the U.K!

    History

    In History, pupils will learn about the ancient Mayan civilisation.

    Art and Design

    In Art this term, children will have the opportunity to create some Mayan patterns and drawings. While in DT, they will design some fabulous Brazilian head dresses fit for carnival!

    PE

    In PE will will start the year focusing on Rounders and then move onto to team building skills. At the end of the term we will complete gymnastics and work with Accrington Stanley on our 'Move and Learn' programme.

    Music (See Music Overview)

    This term we are learning about ‘Samba’ music through lessons with Mr Berry. We will explore all the instruments linked to samba and practise many different rhythm patterns. We will create many pieces which we can’t wait to perform to you at the end of the term!

    French

    In French we are focusing on the Eurovision song contest and the names for musical instruments as well as musical genres. We will also be writing songs based on these facts.

    RE

    In RE, our topics across school will be: To the ends of the earth, St Paul's commitment to the Gospel and another Faith focus.

    Computing

    In computing we will be covering E-Safety and focusing on health & wellbeing, privacy and copyright. We will also be working on understanding and experimenting with Coding!

    P.S.H.E

    In the summer term for PSHE we focus on economic wellbeing, family and relationships. During this term, children will be undertaking the Sex Education Programme ‘A Journey in Love’.
