Mr. A.J. Alveston

I worked in the ceramic tile industry for many years and primarily in Sales and business management, being a Fellow of the Institute of Sales & Marketing.  Eventually it was time to change my career path and move into business management as Sales Director for Tiles UK a national tile import and distribution business. This was followed by employment as a Business Development Consultant for a Spanish tile manufacturer. The objective was to develop new markets and specification  business in the UK.

In my social time, I have been active in many sporting fields, and worked as Golf Club Secretary, Commercial Manager for a local football club and Advertising / Fund Raiser for a Lancashire League Cricket Club.

Mrs L Wolstenholme (Headteacher)

I have been a teacher at Saint Mary's since 2009 in a number of different roles including deputy head and in September 2018 I became the Headteacher. I have a passion for working with children and a focus on working with parents and the local parish community. I am also a catechist at our Church and help Father O'Brien deliver the Sacramental Programme. I enjoy reading, walking and eating out in my spare time. I am now the proud owner of our school dog Winnie who lives with myself and my husband.

Mrs T Duckworth (Deputy Head Teacher)

I have worked at St. Mary's for over 20 years now, as a Key Stage 2 teacher. I become the deputy headteacher in September 2019 and Acting Head Teacher in July 2022. I am also the English lead for our school. As part of this role my aim is to increase reading for pleasure for the children, as reading is a hobby that I thoroughly enjoy. I also enjoy baking, walking, shopping,  going to the gym and looking after our four chickens.

Mrs L Lomberg (Assistant Head Teacher)

I have been working at St Mary’s since 2016 and I am currently the year six class teacher. I studied English Literature before completing my PGCE year at Manchester University. Before working at St Mary’s I taught at a large inner-city Manchester school, which was also great experience. I am our school Maths and Modern Foreign Languages lead. I love learning new things and adore teaching the fantastic children at St Mary’s. I am married with a little girl and have an energetic dog who I love to explore the outdoors with. In my free time I enjoy family time, swimming, going on holiday and socialising with my friends.

I became a Parent Governor at St.Mary’s having previously served the school as a class teacher for 5 years. Prior to qualifying as a teacher I worked in the legal profession. I currently teach at The Manchester Grammar school where I enjoy the opportunity to pursue my sporting interests which include Football, Cricket, Running and Skiing. I enjoy organizing school trips,  both at home and abroad, and have also worked as a Ski Rep during school holidays.  I have been married for 7 years and am a father of 2 children, one of whom attends St.Mary’s. I recently enjoyed the opportunity to deliver the Sacramental programme, preparing the children of the Parish for Reconciliation and Holy Communion.
