Religious Education
Religious education is a huge part life at Saint Mary's. As well as the teaching the children recieve in lessons they are also exposed to a number of religious events and activities across the whole currciculm such as class masses, assemblies and charity events. We feel it is important to express that religious education is not a discrete subject- it happens all the time, Christ is at the centre of all we do.
We follow the Salford Diocese scheme of work Come and See. This is followed right from reception up to Year 6. The children are exposed to creative and stimultaing lessons in which their ideas, thoughts and questions are welcomed. Please see the above PDF for a yearly overview of the Come and See Topics.
Each class also learns about a different religions alongside our own. We feel that the children need a knowledge and understanding of other world religions to teach them respect and tolerance.

Come and See RE Curriculum 2020-2021
Every class takes part in class Masses throughout the year- these are sometimes individual classes or joint with another class. The children are involved in the planning and organising of these Masses and can begin to understand the different aspects of a Mass.
Each class also celebrates with a weekly collective worship. These are intimate, quiet and calm moments we can spend with God. The children are becoming great at planning and leading these worships themselves and are encouraged to find new and exciting ways to worship
CARITAS
At St Mary's we show the love of Christ in all we do through our prayer and daily lives. We try to live as part of the vessel of Christ and share His Values in all that we do. This is particularly present in the work of our CARITAS mornings and work within our community.
